Technical architecture

A lot of technical debt doesn’t come from bad code, but from early choices that are too expensive to reverse later. Which database fits this volume and these query patterns? Do you build modular in one codebase, or split into separate services? How do you make sure another team can still understand it a year from now?

We help answer these questions before building begins. That can be part of a larger build project, but also as a standalone assignment that results in a concrete plan executed internally or by another team.

What we help with
System design and component boundaries

Monolith or microservices? Synchronous API calls or an event-driven architecture via a message queue? These choices determine how easily you can later extend, test and hand over the system. We map out the responsibilities of each part in detail and explain why something belongs in a certain place.

Tech stack choices

SQL or NoSQL, serverless functions or containerized services: there is rarely one right answer. We help you choose based on your specific situation, the team, the expected scale and long-term maintainability. No hype, just fitting choices that won’t bite you in five years.

Data modeling

A relational model works well when structure and consistency are central. Document storage fits better with flexible or nested data. We think along about data structure, indexing, and where caching delivers more value than a faster query.

Transferability and documentation

An architecture that only its creator understands is a risk. We always deliver a documented plan describing what was decided and why, so an internal team or a new developer can pick it up independently.

Our approach

01 Intake

We start with a conversation about the context: what do you want to build, for how many users, with which team and on what timeline? Understanding the constraints is the basis for every good architecture choice.

02 Analysis

If there’s already an existing system or codebase, we look at what’s there, where the pain points are, and what risks the current setup carries. New project? Then we start right away by mapping out the requirements.

03 Design

We work out the architecture: system components, data model, tech stack and the reasoning behind every choice. Clear enough to start with right away, flexible enough to adjust.

04 Handover

We walk through the plan, answer questions and make sure everyone who continues with it understands it. If the project continues into building, we take it on ourselves. If not, you receive it with confidence.
